Twenty years ago this week my sister and I closed up her house in Cutler Bay, then took our children to stay with my Dad in our childhood home in Cherry Grove. Given that my sister’s house didn’t survive Hurricane Andrew intact, it was a good call.
Images from that day are burned into the consciousness of anyone who lived through the catagory 5 hurricane. One of the more endearing is Ron Magill’s “Flamingos in the Bathroom.”
