Spring has Sprung and the Easter Bunny is in Miami

If it weren’t for holidays marked on the calendar, it might be easy to miss the passage of the seasons in our balmy urban Miami, but that doesn’t stop us from celebrating with tropical exuberance. With a sunshine and temperatures predicted to be in the high 70’s, it is definitely a weekend to be spent outside enjoying one or more of these events:

Saturday, March 30 Only

Celebrate Easter at the Coconut Grove Library

Where:  2875 McFarlane Rd, Coconut Grove, FL 33133

When: 3:30 p.m.

This free event is for children ages 2 to 10, celebrate Easter with stories, crafts and more

City of Miami Big Egg Hunt

Where: Juan Duahrte Park, 2800 NW 17 Ave., Miami 33125

When: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“There will be 4000 Hidden Easter Eggs and One Gold Egg for a Grand Prize. The event will also feature Easter basket giveaways, face painting, bounce houses, cotton candy, kite flying, arts and crafts, plus FREE food and drinks for everyone!”

Miami Beach Spring Eggstravaganza

Where: North Shore Park & Youth Center, 501 72 ST, Miami Beach, FL 33141

When: 10:00 a.m.  – 12:30 p.m.

Miami Beach hosts this FREE event. Enjoy the amusements, crafts and photos with the  Bunny. Food and drink concessions will be available for sale.  Egg Hunt is for children 10 & younger, and takes place at 11:00 a.m.

Coral Gables Eggstreme Egg Hunt

Where: Five parks throughout Coral Gables

•War Memorial Youth Center, 405 University Drive
•Jaycee Park, 1230 Hardee Road
•Phillips Park, 90 Menores Avenue
•Salvadore Park, 1120 Andalusia Avenue
•Sunrise Harbor Park, 25 Sunrise Avenue

When: 10:00 a.m.

Coral Gables will have its first-ever helicopter egg drop with thousands of colorful, plastic eggs will be dropped by helicopter onto the Youth Center field as children watch from the perimeter. Simultaneous egg hunts will take place at 10 a.m. at five parks in Coral Gables, but the Youth Center is the only one featuring a helicopter egg drop. Enjoy free concert, and carnival games and ride after the egg hunts. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Division at 305-460-5600.

Easter Eggstravaganza at Jungle Island

Where: 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, FL 33132

When: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“South Florida’s longest-running Easter celebration returns to Jungle Island. Our annual Easter Eggstravangaza is an egg-citing 3-day event benefitting the Miss Millie Foundation. The event will feature Easter Egg Hunts with over 50,000 eggs, stuffed with more than 800 pounds of candy, toys and prizes! Plus, experience our famous pie-eating contests, arts and crafts stations, animal encounters and bounce houses that will fulfill every child’s delights. Don’t forget to be on the look-out for the Easter Bunny so you can pose for your very own photo! One entry into the Easter Egg Hunt is included with a child admission or is a $2 donation to the Miss Millie Foundation.”

“The Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration at Miami Seaquarium returns with more fun and excitement than ever before. The annual event, now in its 11th year, features Easter Bunny appearances, Easter Egg Hunts running continuously throughout the day, lots of prizes and surprises, the all new South Florida Parenting ‘Bunny Zone’ and a special arrival ceremony at 11:00 am each day for the Easter Bunny. Part proceeds of the annual event benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami. Easter Brunch at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

Where: 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables

When: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
