Two more projects have been announced in recent weeks – Canvas Miami, which will be located at 1630 NE 1 Avenue, and an unnamed development on North Miami Avenue at 21st Street in Wynwood.
Canvas Miami is taking the place of Max Miami in the Arts & Entertainment District. Peter Zalewski reporting for The Real Deal says, “As part of the new plan, NR Investments – which acquired the site in December 2013 for $7.3 million as a result of a bankruptcy auction – filed an application with the city to revise the original project to allow a 36-story condo tower with 513 units, nearly 10,000 square feet of retail space and 588 parking spaces. The Miami Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board is scheduled to hear NR Investments’ application for the proposed Canvas condo tower [last month].”
As for the Wynwood project, Sean McCaughan at Curbed Miami writes,
The twelve story mixed-use tower of condos and hotel units in Wynwood which it was earlier reported that the Board of Planning & Zoning wasn’t a fan of (for some reason) has gotten approval for rezoning, and the whole project should be completed by September of 2016. As far as we know, it doesn’t have a name yet… The 350,000 square foot project will include ground floor retail, 77 hotel rooms, and 165 residential units. “The project’s overall design concept reflects Wynwood’s character – an industrial, artistic aesthetic with concrete, untreated wood/lumber and exposed infrastructure. The amenities throughout the building will include social spaces for events and will allow for fluid living spaces for social interactions.” says the P.R. team for ADD Inc.
