It’s a summer of important milestones. Yesterday was the National Park Service’s 100th birthday, and today it is Coldwell Banker’s 110th birthday. I find it rather inspiring that the company I am affiliated with has been around longer than the National Park Service!
The story of the Coldwell Banker brand is also very inspiring. After the San Francisco earthquake and fires in 1906, with more than 250,000 people left homeless, 23-year-old Colbert Coldwell founded Coldwell Banker with a mission to bring honesty, integrity and professionalism to what was then a little regulated industry.
Watching families rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the tragedy, Coldwell changed the way people bought and sold homes across America, building what would become one of the largest and most expansive real estate brands in the world.
Today, the Coldwell Banker network has more than 84,000 affiliated sales professionals working in approximately 3,000 independently owned and operated franchised broker offices in 47 countries. In 2015, Coldwell Banker-affiliated agents participated in 730,000 U.S. transaction sides, at an average U.S. sales price of $308,000, approximately 16 percent higher than the average U.S. sales price reported by the National Association of Realtors in 2015.
Now that’s something to celebrate! Happy Birthday, Coldwell Banker!
