Today is Voting Day in Florida – Primaries for Midterms

August 28, 2018 by MelanieDawn Leave a Comment

If you did not vote early or by mail, today is the day! August 28 is election day for the primaries ahead of the midterm general elections on November 6, 2018.

In the City of Miami, we are deciding who will run for the following offices: Governor, District 27 Congressional Representative, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Representative, and both Circuit and County Judges.

City of Miami residents are also voting on a referendum to extend Jungle Island’s lease and allow them to build a hotel on Watson Island. (Review a copy of the ballot referendum here: 2018-08-28 Miami referendum – Parrot Jungle

Florida is a “closed primary” state, which means votes in the partisan races are limited to registered party members.  Non-partisan races and the referendum are open to all registered voters.
