Beach Clean Up at Virginia Key North Point

June 26, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

The Virginia Key North Point hammock habitat will provide habitat and food for Florida’s native fauna! Volunteers will use the iNaturalist and Marine Debris Tracker apps to document animals and plants at the site and record debris found during this beach clean up.

Join the Museum Volunteers for the Environment (MUVE), the volunteer based habitat restoration project of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, to plant hammock species at the Virginia Key North Point restoration site.

Plants include cocoplum, seagrape, and seven-year-apple. Volunteers will learn how to use the iNaturalist and Marine Debris Tracker apps to document animals and plants inhabiting the site.

Following the clean up, volunteers will be able to attend Saturday’s Miami Underwater Festival at the Museum at no charge.
