There’s a reason Melanie Dawn Molina Wood is better known as “Melanie in Miami.” And it’s not just because her nickname is much easier to remember than her full name. It’s because she is extremely passionate about life in Miami. Melanie was born and raised here and has raised her own daughter here. There’s no other city she’d rather call home.
passion for the city
Melanie always had a fascination with the high energy Downtown lifestyle. She watched as the city continued to grow and revitalize over the years—financial prosperity, improved quality of life, more “green” initiatives embraced. A few years ago, Melanie knew it was time to fully immerse herself in the city she loved so much, so she and her daughter relocated to a downtown condo. “It’s amazing living in such a dynamic place,” she says. “There’s never a dull moment and I enjoy being at the center of it all.”
Melanie’s popular blog—MelanieInMiami.com—chronicles her passion for the downtown lifestyle. She likes staying up-to-date with everything that’s happening in the city, from tracking new businesses, trying out new restaurants, enjoying the city’s diverse cultural arts, posting many of the stunning photos she takes around town, sharing energy saving tips and even following the local sports teams. Most importantly, Melanie uses her blog to discuss the latest trends and news in the local real estate market. After all, she is one of Downtown Miami’s premier real estate professionals.
proven expertise
Melanie began her real estate career in commercial property management, investment and redevelopment. She then worked for a real estate title attorney before making the transition back into full time residential sales. “Those previous experiences in the industry gave me a lot of valuable insight into different aspects of the business,” Melanie says. “I like to use this experience along with my knowledge of the Downtown market to help my clients make the right home buying and selling decisions.”
the right resource
Whether you’re buying a starter home, moving up into one of Miami’s premier luxury high-rises or investing in lucrative urban property, Melanie will help you make the most of your real estate opportunities. One of her specialties is “green” building, and she is excited that Downtown Miami is incorporating so many environmental sustainability initiatives into the city’s growing infrastructure. Melanie is an accredited LEED Green Associate, Certified EcoBroker, and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council – South Florida chapter among her many green certifications and affiliations.
One of the other things she loves about this city is its wonderful mix of cultures. Melanie holds a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, which allows her to provide a great real estate experience to people from all over the world who want to own a slice of Miami’s good life. She is also highly tuned in to social media, using networking tools like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to share information and bring more buyers and sellers together, both locally and abroad.

Broward Ferret Rescue
My daughter & I share our home with two ferrets: Bandit & Hershey, so this small shelter is one that we support with great pleasure.
“The Broward Ferret Rescue and Referral exists to rescue abandoned and surrendered ferrets where they may be placed in loving forever homes while educating the communities on their humane needs. The Broward Ferret Rescue was founded in 2000 by Karen Riley and Dona Michaels. Based out of their homes, it remains a small no kill ferret shelter. In 2004, Broward Ferret Rescue became a 501c3 non-profit organization.”
Habitat for Humanity
Our office participates in Habitat for Humanity’s Blitz Build each year. This is the sixth year I have helped build houses with my fellow Coldwell Banker agents and Habitat for Humanity.
Blitz Build is an accelerated construction event where 2,000 people will complete ten homes over the course of two weeks. Volunteers, homeowners, and sponsors work together to build not only houses, but also friendships and a better future for homeowner families and the Miami-Dade community. Blitz Build 2012 took place in Habitat Oaks in Liberty City.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
“JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is now the largest charitable supporter of T1D research. The goal of JDRF research is to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners who share this goal.”
In addition to my time, a percentage of every commission I earn goes to one of these fine organizations.
